Hercules and the Titans support trompe
loeil Renaissance columns, arches and balconies. Venus in
all her glory is on the opposite wall, and the arched painting
is a self-portrait of the artist as a Doge of Venice receiving
Asian Ambassadors. The "frescoes" were painted on large
strips of canvas then installed onto the walls. Marchiori has
used regular latex house paints that give a very good effect as
ancient frescoes. It is more practical to plan and paint on the
studio tables than climbing the walls.
